AMD Opteron™ Processor Family

Delivering high performance, scalability and overall customer value

The AMD Opteron™ processor helps enable a breakthrough in high-performance, low power processing for embedded enterprise markets including embedded servers, networking , security, storage, and telecommunications.

The new AMD Opteron™ 6200 Series Embedded processor is the world’s first 16-core x86 processor, delivering a rich mix of performance, scalability and efficiency for today’s highly threaded computing environments. The AMD Opteron™ 6200 Series Embedded processor utilizes AMD Turbo CORE technology, enabling processors to independently boost their clock speeds up to 500MHz-1GHz automatically to respond to the dynamic need for more application performance in embedded enterprise systems1.

The AMD Opteron™ 4200 Series Embedded Processor just got more efficient, more configurable with better platform longevity. AMD Opteron™ 4200 Series Embedded processor uses the new “Bulldozer” architecture, provides a 33% increase in core count and maintains the compute density by using a smaller2 more efficient, 8-core design while maintaining the same power/thermal ranges.

Embedded enterprise applications–including networking, storage, rendering Embedded servers and security appliances–need predictable multithreaded performance that is enhanced by the AMD Opteron™ 6200 Series and 4200 Series Embedded processors.

AMD64 delivers the right match of processing power, memory performance, I/O throughput, and scalability. Add the vision of x86 32- and 64-bit application support with native multi-core computing in a consistent thermal envelope and many embedded designers are finding their AMD Opteron™ processor-based next-generation systems deliver superior application performance.
