EU Kommission genehmigt Investitionsbeihilfen für AMD Fab 36 in Dresden
Sunnyvale, CA, and Dresden -- 5. Februar 2004 -- Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NYSE:AMD) hat die Entscheidung der EU Kommission begrüsst, die Investitionsbeihilfen für ein neues Halbleiterwerk, AMD Fab 36 in Dresden, zu genehmigen. Die Bundesrepublik Deutschland und der Freistaat Sachsen unterstützen das Vorhaben mit Investitionszulagen und -zuschüssen in Höhe von rund € 545 Mio - die höchstmögliche Investitionsbeihilfe, die gewährt werden kann.

Mit der Unterstützung der Europäischen Union Sachsens wird AMD Fab 36 auf den herausragenden Erfolg unserer AMD Fab 30 in Dresden aufbauen und so unsere führende Rolle in Fertigung und Technologie weiter stärken,“ sagte Bob Rivet, Chief Financial Officer.
Am 20. November 2003 begann AMD mit einem symbolischen Ersten Spatenstich den Bau seines 300 mm Halbleiterwerkes ("Fab"). Das neue Werk AMD Fab 36 ist Teil der AMD Fab 36 LLC & Co. KG und entsteht in unmittelbarer Nachbarschaft zur bereits bestehenden AMD Fab 30 in Dresden. AMD Fab 36 soll 2006 die Volumenproduktion aufnehmen.
