AMD und FIA gehen künftig gemeinsam an den Start
- AMD wird „Offizieller Technologiepartner“ der Fédération Internationale de l´Automobile (FIA) -
Sunnyvale, CA -- 2. September 2005 --AMD (NYSE: AMD) hat heute angekündigt, dass man künftig als „Offizieller Technologiepartner“ mit der Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) zusammenarbeiten werde. Der Dachverband des weltweiten Motorsports betreut als internationale gemeinnützige Organisation die Bereiche Automobil, Kraftfahrzeugwesen und Mobilität. AMD wird als Bestandteil dieser neuen Partnerschaft seine technologische Kompetenz in weiten Teilen der Bereiche Automobil und Motorsport einbringen und zudem beratend in Fragen der Automobilpolitik und Regeln des Motorsports zur Seite stehen.
Konkret wird AMD der FIA AMD64 Technologie in Servern, Desktop- und mobilen Systemen zur Verfügung stellen. Die IT-Technologie wird bei den verschiedenen Motorsportrennen eingesetzt. Beispielsweise, um die großen Datenmengen, die bei Formel-1-Rennen anfallen zu verwalten oder, um Webseiten zu betreiben. Der Einsatz der AMD64 Technologie als der führende Standard im 64-Bit-Computing, ermöglicht es Unternehmen, ihre Hard- und Softwareinvestitionen bereits heute und in der Zukunft optimal zu nutzen.
„In der automobilen Welt ist das Potenzial für intelligente Transportsysteme nahezu unbegrenzt und schließlich wird die Technologie helfen, die großen Herausforderungen in puncto Verkehrsüberlastung und Sicherheit erfolgreich anzugehen. Wir freuen uns sehr darauf, direkt mit Henri Richard von AMD, der die Aufgabe als FIA Technology Special Advisor angenommen hat, zusammenzuarbeiten.“

Die von der FIA ausgetragenen Weltmeisterschaftsrennen der Formel 1 gehören zu den weltweit erfolgreichsten Motorsportereignissen. AMD ist bereits seit 2002 als „Offizieller Sponsor und Technologiepartner“ des Scuderia-Ferrari-F1-Teams und mittlerweile auch als „Offizieller Technologiepartner“ des Sauber-Petronas-F1-Teams mit der Formel 1 eng verbunden.
Anfang des Jahres startete die FIA zusammen mit AMD die erste weltweite Fanbefragung, um die öffentliche Meinung über den Sport kennen zu lernen. Die Ergebnisse sollen in die Regeln der Formel 1 einfließen. An der Befragung nahmen mehr als 90.000 Menschen aus 180 Ländern teil. Die Fans sehen die Technologie in der Formel 1 als das wichtigste Unterscheidungsmerkmal für den sportlichen Erfolg. Sie gehen davon aus, dass die in der Formel 1 entwickelte Technologie neben dem Design, die Sicherheit und Effizienz von herkömmlichen Fahrzeugen verbessern. 71 Prozent äußerten den Wunsch, mehr technische Informationen aus der Formel 1 zu erhalten.
