Harness the Power of Up to 12 Compute Cores1
Boost the efficiency of your virtualization software at the hardware level with AMD Virtualization technology (AMD-V™). AMD-V’s unique on-chip features help AMD PRO-based clients run multiple applications and operating systems on a single machine for better resource use and efficiency.
AMD-V™ is a Standard Feature in every AMD PRO A-Series APU.
So you can make every opportunity count, virtualization technologies are designed into every AMD PRO A-Series APU. And because they are built on open standards, you maintain your ability to choose based on what is best for your business and your bottom line, rather than being locked in by proprietary solutions.
AMD-V™ supports the following functionality:
Client Side Virtualization: Microsoft Windows 7 ships with a Windows XP Mode that allows two operating systems to run separately, securely, and uninterrupted via client hypervisors.2 Windows 8 and later allow virtualized operating systems through the use of Client Hyper-V.
Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI): Instead of a traditional operating system, client virtual machines are hosted on a hardware virtualization center on the data center server. AMD powers many of the most popular thin client solutions utilized in VDI environments.
Blade PC, OS Streaming, and Terminal Services: AMD PRO A-Series processors offer a technology option that can be tailored for a variety of computing architectures, whether it’s the performance and isolation requirements of VDI and Terminal Services virtualization, or the low power need and memory requirements demanded by Blade PC and OS streaming with concurrent users and applications.
