Senior Vice President, Infrastructure and Engineering
Chekib Akrout is senior vice president of the infrastructure and engineering organization at AMD. This includes the office of business transformation, information technology, platform and product engineering, design for test and for debug and methodology engineering teams. In this role, Akrout drives the AMD transformation to achieve the company's short- and long-term business objectives, while supporting products with world-class platform and product engineering support.
Before joining AMD in 2008, Akrout worked at Freescale Semiconductor as vice president and general manager of the Networking System Division where he focused on networking multi-core and Digital Signal Processing, driving processor competitiveness in the networking markets.
Prior to Freescale, he spent 23 years at IBM, where his last assignment was vice president of Entertainment and Embedded Processor Development and was responsible for the Cell Project developed through a Sony/Toshiba/IBM partnership as well as Xbox 360 processor development for Microsoft and embedded PowerPC processors cores for SoC.
Akrout holds a bachelor's degree in physics from the University Pierre & Marie Curie in France, and a doctorate in electronics and physics.
