AMD Cares Day of Service

Doing Good for Our Communities and Our Planet

Employees from 18 sites around the world proudly wore their green volunteer t-shirts for the 2nd Annual AMD Cares Day of Service. 1,500 employees volunteered for more than 40 projects benefiting the community, a 20 percent increase over 2015. This year’s Day of Service was planned to coincide with Earth Week activities in support of our environmental goals and programs. Combining our company’s passion for volunteerism and environmental sustainability is a great way to show that AMD cares about our local communities and the planet at large.

Many sites chose planet-friendly projects, such as planting trees, cleaning up beaches and shorelines, collecting roadside litter, and beautifying local parks. Others selected activities focused on eradicating hunger, providing services to the elderly and disabled, assembling science education kits, walking to raise awareness for health related causes, and improving the lives of orphans. As you can see by the infographic, the results were very impressive.

We all lead busy lives and AMD Cares Day of Service is a great reminder of just how valuable our time, talents and money are, especially when they benefit our local communities. That is why the AMD Foundation is generously providing charitable grants to several global environmental nonprofit organizations chosen by our employees in Canada, China, India, Malaysia, Singapore, and the United States. These investments will be used to support a variety of projects focused on carbon reduction, habitat preservation, and environmental education. These organizations are incredibly valuable to the community and we are proud to support their work.
