FlashFX's small size and fast speed make it particularly well suited for embedded environments and hardware that utilize flash memory for data storage purposes. A single flash memory device can serve as ROM for the storage of code and also as a disk drive for the storage of data.
FlashFX utilizes a patented technology called Variable Block Flash (VBF) format to provide a faster and more efficient logical to physical address translation. This has allowed FlashFX to earn the reputation as being one of the fastest flash file systems currently available.
Feature rich, FlashFX includes wear leveling, garbage collection and a small memory footprint. FlashFX is portable to any operating system or CPU and has even been optimized for Windows CE. Like ROM-DOS, FlashFX is shipped with the Datalight Software Development Tool Kit (SDTK) that includes all third party and Datalight specific tools needed for the development of Datalight products.
