--A Portfolio of Enterprise Network Management Technologies Designed to Maximize Network Performance and Reduce Cost of Enterprise Computing--
SUNNYVALE, CA -- El 6 de Abril de 1998 --With today's emphasis on lowering total cost of ownership (TCO) on desktop computers, AMD is pleased to announce it has partnered with Computer Associates to offer CA's Unicenter TNG Framework as part of its Managed Performance Portfolio. AMD's Managed Performance Portfolio is a comprehensive set of robust power and advanced management tools designed to provide critical end-to-end management and control of the enterprise network.
The Portfolio works in conjunction and is fully compatible with the entire family of AMD's PCnet™ Ethernet and Fast Ethernet controllers. AMD recently announced PCnet-FAST+, a highly integrated Fast Ethernet controller, and the newest addition to the PCnet family. AMD now offers the broadest range of Ethernet controllers in the industry.
The Unicenter TNG Framework is the first IT management framework with all the services and tools necessary for building customized management applications on all the industry's leading operating systems and hardware platforms.
"Network administrators are increasingly looking to the PC manufacturers to provide integrated systems that lower TCO and reduce the risk of network downtime," said Gary Smerdon, product marketing director at AMD's network products division. The Managed Performance Portfolio was designed to address these issues. CA's Unicenter TNG Framework is a vital piece in our offering because it provides network administrators with the tools to carry out crucial management functions, such as auto discovery, hands-free management, scheduling and virus protection. Our relationship with CA continues to show promise and benefits for both companies to provide better solutions for our customers."
The Unicenter TNG Framework is the only framework to provide "out-of-the-box" support for a broad range of hardware platforms and sophisticated framework technologies, such as object repository, auto discovery, and 2D and 3D GUI. The Unicenter TNG Framework supports the full portfolio of desktop management standards.
"The Unicenter TNG Framework has emerged as the de facto industry standard for enterprise systems vendors to offer reduced cost-of-ownership and enhanced manageability," said Ken Farber, CA vice president of strategic business alliances. "We are pleased that AMD has joined its peers in making CA's IT management technology a key component of its value proposition to the corporate buyer."
AMD's Managed Performance Portfolio was created to address the broad span of complex issues associated with managing the computer network. The core products offered as part of AMD's Managed Performance Portfolio provide the technologies required to reduce complexity by automating network management and maintenance tasks such as desktop configuration, diagnostics, file backup and data management. In a society that is driven by information, network downtime not only means significant costs, but the disruption to business can be enormous. The Managed Performance Portfolio is designed to reduce TCO without compromising overall network performance, essential in maximizing the return on investment in information technology.
