Tyan Releases an Advanced Dual AMD Athlon MP™ Processor Platform For Servers and High-End Workstations

Tyan Continues to Support AMD Athlon™ MP Architecture For Leading-Edge Solutions

Fremont, CA -- El 14 de Octubre de 2002 --Tyan® today announced plans to add to their variety of system boards based on AMD Athlon™ MP processors. Advancing on previous versions of Tyan’s dual AMD processor solutions, the Thunder K7X Pro supports highly desirable features such as EPS12V and ATX12V power compatibility, Gigabit Ethernet LAN for high bandwidth, and angled DIMM slots for maximum memory capacity in space constricted rackmount environments.

The lineage of the Thunder K7X Pro traces back to its predecessor, the Thunder K7, the world’s first dual AMD processor platform. Following a series of dual AMD processor-based motherboards, the Thunder K7X Pro’s features demonstrate once again that Tyan is the industry leader in SMP design for AMD technology.

Built around the AMD-760™ MPX chipset, the Thunder K7X Pro offers features that enable it to be a valuable server solution. Strategically angled DIMMs can accept full-sized DDR modules in a 1U rackmount system, allowing maximum memory configurations. The Gigabit Ethernet LAN satisfies the server market’s demand for increased network bandwidth, and the Thunder K7X accepts both EPS12V and ATX12V power supplies for different levels of power requirements. For workstations, the AGP Pro 50 slot powers the most advanced AGP cards available.

"The Thunder K7X Pro stands out as a server platform with its high bandwidth Gigabit Ethernet and graphics capabilities," said Danny Hsu, Director of Sales and Marketing at Tyan. "Tyan has been collaborating with AMD to provide stable reliable offerings for the server and workstation environments."

“The Tyan Thunder K7X Pro server platform for AMD Athlon MP processors provides a reliable, powerful solution for high bandwidth and maximum memory capacity in space constricted rackmount environments,” said Ed Gasirowski, director of the AMD Infrastructure Enablement Group. “AMD continues to collaborate with industry leaders such as Tyan to deliver performance-enhancing server and workstation platforms.”
