3Dlabs Wildcat II 5000 Graphics Optimized for New AMD Athlon™ XP Processor 1800+

Channel-Available Wildcat II 5000 in AMD Athlon XP Processor-Based Systems Delivers Unprecedented Performance for Broad Range of Professionals

Sunnyvale, CA -- El 9 de Octubre de 2001 --3DlabsÒ, Inc. Ltd. (NASDAQ:TDDD) today announced that its Wildcat II 5000 graphics accelerator—the first Wildcat graphics to be available as a board-level product in the channel—has been fully optimized for the new AMD Athlon™ XP processor 1800+ with QuantiSpeed™ architecture. The performance of the Wildcat II 5000 with the AMD Athlon XP platform enables system integrators and end users to build workstation-class systems powered by the world’s fastest graphics technology—at prices never before seen in the workstation market.

Also optimized for the AMD Athlon XP processor 1800+ is the top-of-the-line Wildcat II 5110, available to OEMs and qualified systems integrators through the 3Dlabs Wildcat Partner Program.

“Like AMD, 3Dlabs believes that performance is more accurately measured by real-world productivity benefits, rather than strictly numerical measures such as gigahertz or triangles-per-second,” said Raj Singh, executive vice president and general manager of 3Dlabs. “With the Wildcat II 5000 now widely available in the channel, professionals who build or purchase systems based on the AMD Athlon XP processor 1800+ can experience these productivity benefits at performance levels never before seen in the industry.”

“The ‘XP’ in the AMD Athlon XP processor 1800+ stands for ‘Extreme Performance,’ and that’s exactly what users get with the 3Dlabs Wildcat II 5000 graphics accelerator in the AMD Athlon XP platform,” said Richard Heye, vice president, Platform Engineering & Infrastructure, Computation Products Group for AMD. “Workstations based on the AMD Athlon XP processor 1800+ and Wildcat II 5000 graphics offer extremely reliable, robust performance for the industry’s most advanced graphics software applications.”

Wildcat II 5000 – Best-in Class Performance
The Wildcat II 5000 is built on the same advanced Wildcat II architecture that powers the award-winning Wildcat II 5110, including a programmable geometry engine and professional features such as complete OpenGL support, 3Dlabs’ SuperScene™ antialiasing, 3D volumetric texturing and hardware overlay planes. The Wildcat II 5000 also drives the latest digital flat panel and display products using the DVI standard, and offers a unified Wildcat driver certified for the leading CAD and digital content creation (DCC) applications.
