AMD Turion™ 64 Mobile Technology: Understanding Model Numbers for Turion 64 processors

AMD Turion™ 64 mobile technology employs new alpha-numeric processor model numbers to help end users simplify their notebook PC purchase decisions by providing a simple and easy designation of both relative processor performance and degree of mobility (as measured by power consumption, enabling thin and light notebook PCs, and long battery life) among this processor family.

An example of AMD Turion 64 mobile technology model numbers is illustrated in Figure 1 below. The alpha-numeric processor model numbers consists of 2 letters followed by numbers. The letters indicate the processors class with the second letter designating increasing degree of mobility within the processor class as the letter approaches Z. For example, model MT-xx designates greater relative mobility than model ML-xx.

The numbers indicate the relative processor performance within the processor class. Higher numbers indicate higher relative performance. For example, model MT-34 represents better overall performance than the model MT-32

Actual size and weight reductions and longer battery life for notebook PCs vary from different manufacturers notebook product offerings. In addition to AMD Turion™ 64 mobile technology, other components can affect the size, weight, and battery life of a notebook PC.

The table below provides an example, for illustration purposes only, of AMD Turion 64 mobile technology model numbers and corresponding processor frequency and cache sizes, factors which contribute to different levels of relative performance. Other processor features, not shown in Figure 2, also contribute to overall processor performance.
