Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Chief Talent Officer
Allen Sockwell is Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Chief Talent Officer for AMD. In this role, he is responsible for leading AMD’s worldwide Human Resources function, including regional and business unit HR support, Compensation and Benefits, Learning and Organizational Development, Staffing, Employee Relations and HR Service Delivery.
Allen joined AMD in 2002 as Human Resources director for the Computation Products Group. He was promoted to vice president of Human Resources for the Microprocessor Solutions Sector in January 2004, and most recently served as vice president for Global Organization and Leadership Development. In this role he was responsible for company-wide organizational and leadership competency models, as well as global processes such as succession management, performance management, leadership development and other programs required to build the talent and leadership to support AMD strategies.
Allen brings over 25 years of HR experience to his role. He previously served as vice president of HR for Crossroads Systems, Inc. and as vice president of HR for the global supply chain management and manufacturing operations of Compaq Computer. He began his career with IBM, where he last served as HR manager for a semiconductor design and fabrication facility in Burlington, Vermont.
Allen holds a bachelor of science degree in general management from Purdue University. He and his wife Leslie, live in Austin along with their four children Brandon, Lindsay, Kyle, and Brooke.
