AMD CTO Fred Weber Recognized As One Of Infoworld's 25 Most Influential CTOs

SUNNYVALE, CA -- El 26 de enero de 2004 --AMD today announced that Fred Weber, chief technical officer and vice president for AMD’s Computation Products Group, was named one of InfoWorld’s 25 Most Influential CTOs of 2004. The publication selects individuals that represent the most innovative, visionary and results-driven IT executives across diverse industries. Weber is widely credited for leading the development of AMD64 technology — the foundation of the award-winning AMD Opteron™ and the AMD Athlon™ 64 processors that offer leading-edge 32-bit performance and 64-bit capability.

“It is an honor for AMD to be recognized with this award by InfoWorld Magazine,” said Weber. “At AMD, we listened to our customers and partners and developed AMD64 technology on industry standards, helping to preserve customers’ investments in 32-bit applications, while allowing a seamless transition to 64-bit computing.”

The InfoWorld 25 Most Influential CTOs team of top editors and its CTO Advisory Council chose Weber based on his demonstrated leadership and influence, technological innovation and results. Weber will be profiled along with other honorees in the January 26th issue. For more information about the award and how recipients were chosen, visit http://www.infoworld.com/867.
