AMD Opteron™ Processor Endorsement Quotes

O to, co o nas mówią

The Next-Generation AMD Opteron™ processor offers hardware support for virtualization that is ideally suited to the Xen™ hypervisor. Users of Xen and XenEnterprise can now be able to leverage AMD Virtualization™ technology for ‘near bare metal’ support of Windows and other operating systems, giving customers a compelling, affordable choice for their virtualized infrastructure. Hardware virtualization is key to the broad adoption of virtualization, and obsoletes the CPU emulation used by first generation virtual infrastructure software.

- -Simon Crosby, Chief Technology Officer, XenSource

ZT’s support of Next-Generation AMD Opteron™ processors enables us to leverage proven technologies with efficient dual-core capabilities, low-power/high-bandwidth DDR2, and advanced leadership in x86 virtualization. Our customers will appreciate the improved business functionality and the ability to reduce total cost of ownership through the ease of upgrades from dual-core to quad-core in the same thermal infrastructure.

- -Bob Anderson, Vice President of Business Development and Strategy, ZT Group International Inc

We are excited about the improved server scalability and performance benefits that the Next-Generation AMD Opteron processor will bring to our customers. The 64-bit version of Presentation Server takes user density to new heights - up to three times as many users per server. The 64-bit AMD Opteron processor enables IT to expand their Presentation Server deployment to more business applications and additional user groups at a much lower cost. The new platform will enhance end-user experience and further enable customers to take full advantage of the cost benefits offered by Citrix Presentation Server.

- -Scott Herren, group vice president and general manager, for Citrix

At Red Hat, we recognize the value of 64-bit-enabled applications in IT, and have worked closely with AMD to develop and enable an innovative, high-performing hardware and software platform. This platform’s success is evidenced by the growing number of software vendors moving their development environment to Red Hat Enterprise Linux supporting AMD64 technology across several industries, including financial services, telecommunications, healthcare and government. We look forward to continuing our work with AMD, enabling software development that is optimized with integrated virtualization from the operating system to the chipset and hardware.

- -Brian Stevens, chief technology officer at Red Hat

With Solaris 10 we provide mainframe class features such as Predictive Self Healing and advanced virtualization capabilities such as Solaris Containers for a wide array of AMD Opteron processor-based systems from popular vendors. Our partnership with AMD will simplify the development and delivery of new virtualization technologies and our Solaris Compatibility Guarantee ensures that customers deploying systems based on the Next-Generation AMD Opteron processor have a seamless upgrade path to the latest technology for their datacenter.

- -Tom Goguen, vice president, system software, Sun Microsystems

AMD Opteron processor-based servers have proven to be an outstanding platform for our customers deploying Virtuozzo for Linux and Virtuozzo for Windows. Due to Virtuozzo’s unique architecture, all AMD advances are immediately supported. The benefits provided by Next-Generation AMD Opteron processors, including the ability for our customers to scale servers across a single architecture, will enable greater opportunities for server consolidation, business continuity, reducing management complexity, and helping to address the important issues of data center efficiency.

- -Serguei Beloussov, CEO, SWsoft

AMD is providing hardware-assisted virtualization support in their new AMD Opteron processors. Our enterprise-class virtualization and virtual infrastructure management software are designed to take full advantage of these new processor capabilities and provide users with outstanding performance and reliability with less overhead.

- -Alex Vasilevsky, founder and chief technical officer at Virtual Iron

By adopting the latest Dual-Core AMD Opteron™ processors, Armari Ltd. customers should be able to gain significant increases in application performance without increasing the power budget they originally allocated for the equivalent number of single-core AMD Opteron processors. We are particularly excited by this AMD achievement, as a large percentage of our customers run high performance computing (HPC) applications. A single HPC cluster can contain hundreds of processors running at a continuous load over three years or more. When we factor in the total running costs and proven reliability of the AMD Opteron processor, the latest Dual-Core AMD Opteron processors Model 280 deliver not only excellent price-to-performance but also outstanding performance-per-watt, so the savings for our customers will be very significant, especially in the HPC space.

- -Dan Goldsmith, Technical Director, Armari Ltd.

Loaded with next-generation components such as the latest Dual-Core AMD Opteron™ processors, Alienware's MJ-12 7550a workstation continues to provide an avenue for creative professionals to thrive. The Dual-Core AMD Opteron processor Model 280 delivers the highest performance yet for the growing number of MJ-12 7550a users.

- -Nestor Villalobos, Worldwide Product Manager for Workstations and Servers, Alienware
