The combination of AMD Opteron™ processors and our RedHawk real-time Linux operating system are providing increasingly successful solutions for complex, time-critical applications worldwide. Concurrent customers in Germany are using AMD Opteron processor-powered iHawk systems in Air Traffic Control for critical radar data recording. French customers are replacing six-processor SGI systems with dual and quad AMD Opteron processor-powered iHawk Series 870 systems for advanced music simulation and research. A well-known electronics customer in Japan is using their first AMD Opteron processor-powered iHawk system for particle element analysis and simulation of advanced toner compounds for copiers. This application used to require time on CRAY super computers. All of these applications require the high levels of performance and determinism provided by AMD Opteron processor-based systems and RedHawk real-time Linux.

With our strong collaboration with AMD, we have already performed successful early testing of the Dual-Core AMD Opteron processors on the Cray XD1 system on a range of applications and are excited to be rolling them out to our customers.
