AMD will power more than 125 Windows 8-based PC designs from leading OEMs. Microsoft and AMD have collaborated to design Windows 8 to unlock the high performance graphics capabilities found in AMD APUs AMD Radeon™ GPUs.
With a focus on powering a great user experience, learn about some of the differentiating features of AMD platforms with Windows 8:
AMD Start Now Technology: Some users will be shocked at how fast AMD-based Windows 8 devices boot up, shutdown and resume from sleep. Microsoft outlined the work they did with the fast startup feature, but there were also hundreds of engineering hours AMD put in to further optimize around these scenarios for Windows 8.
AMD Radeon™ Graphics: Windows 8 features a tablet touch-friendly user interface and is hardware accelerated, leveraging the graphics capabilities of the system more than ever before. AMD supports a number of Windows 8 graphics features across our DirectX 11-based APUs and GPUs, including smooth rotation, stereoscopic 3D, and Direct3D 11 video. AMD was also first to ship DirectX 11.1 compliant hardware for full support of Windows 8 graphics features.
AMD Eyefinity Technology: With Eyefinity, consumers can span their Windows 8 desktop, user interface, games and apps seamlessly across three or more monitors for a truly immersive experience. The Windows 8 user interface is built on top of DirectX so it works with Eyefinity just like games.
64-bit Processors: AMD’s 64-bit technology, the foundation for AMD APUs and CPUs, deliver performance and compatibility with both the 32- and 64-bit versions of Windows 8 and the millions of existing Windows apps in addition to new Windows Store apps. (Contained within a PDF linked to the email)
