LinuxWorld 2003 Keynote PLAYING WELL WITH OTHERS
 |
The Linux movement is a shining example of what is possible when everyone works together in the pursuit of a common goal. In other words, we can achieve anything when we remember to "play well with one another." When creative thinkers all over the world dedicate themselves to bettering the overall computing experience for everyone, true innovation follows. The rise of Linux as a respected and growing computing platform is an excellent example of true innovation. There's a lesson the Linux movement is teaching that the entire technology industry should take to heart: working together and within standards for the betterment of customers - playing well with others - is key to the future success of our industry. AMD is an absolute believer in innovating within standards on behalf of users, and is leading the charge for customer-centric innovation, not technology for technology's sake. AMD President and CEO Hector Ruiz will demonstrate the many ways in which AMD is playing well with others throughout the Linux community to ensure that together, users are given ultimate control over the technology they use at home, in the field, and across the enterprise.
| AMD President and CEO Hector Ruiz discusses x86-64 bit computing and its impact on Linux and the enterprise space with (from L to R): Manager, DB2 Strategic Technologies, IBM, Boris Bialek; AMD VP, Server Business, Marty Seyer; SuSE Linux CEO Richard Seibt; Linux Analyst, Giga Information Group, Stacey Quandt; President, Linux International, Jon “maddog” Hall; Executive Director, The Free Standards Group, Scott McNeil |
