Home Networking
AMD has expanded its home networking product family with the introduction of the HomePHY™ single-chip 1 Mbps phoneline and 10BASE-T physical layer (PHY) device. Along with the PCnet™-Home single-chip controller, AMD now offers products to fit in a variety of home phoneline networking applications. Both the PCnet-Home and HomePHY devices support the Home Phoneline Networking Alliance (HomePNA) 1.0 specification and provide 1 Mbps networking over existing phone wiring regardless of topology and without disrupting telephone (POTS) service.

PCnet-Home
The PCnet-Home is an integrated 10/100 PCI controller and physical layer device that supports both 1 Mbps data networking over existing phone wiring and 10 Mbps Ethernet. The device provides a MII interface for adding 100 Mbps PHY capability, and is available in 160-PQFP and 144-TQFP packages. The PCnet-Home is ideal for PC applications.

HomePHY
The HomePHY is a single-chip physical layer device that supports both 1 Mbps data networking over existing phone wiring and 10 Mbps Ethernet. The device offers a choice of 7-wire (GPSI) or MII-compatible interfaces, and is available in 80-TQFP and 68-PLCC packages. The HomePHY is ideal for 3.3-volt embedded applications.

The HomePHY also supports the industrial temperature range (-40°C to +85°C) in the 80-pin TQFP package. The industrial temperature range is well suited to environments with enclosures with restricted air flow or outdoor equipment.
