General Description

The AMD Geode™ SP4SC31 system platform enables a system designer to write and test code for WebPAD and thin-client applications. The ability to perform such development in a stable and highly observable system can shorten the time required to bring a small-form-factor board to production.

The SP4SC31 system platform is designed around AMD Geode Solutions products.

The SP4SC31 system platform provides three primary functions

  • Development and validation of software

    • BIOS firmware validation
  • Development of hardware-based products
    • Design development and emulation
    • Proof-of-concept
  • Evaluation of on-board silicon
    • AMD Geode SC2200 processor
    • AMD Geode SC3200 processor

The SP4SC31 system platform motherboard design allows for easy access to hardware for test, measurement and debug; test points are clearly marked. A wide assortment of I/O devices can be connected to simulate a WebPAD system or thin-client design. An external power supply or an Eel battery adapter board (also provided by AMD) is required to power the platform. The BIOS is provided by AMD XpressROM system firmware products. Sockets are provided for M-Systems DiskOnChip (DOC) and SanDisk CompactFlash. The board includes one sub-ISA slot, two 3.3 V PCI slots and an LPC (Low Pin Count) interface. A wide range of jumper and software selectable options allow for a variety of specific validation and development configuration options.
