I joined the Geode team in Longmont in 1999 after leading the design verification effort for a low-cost multicore SOC used in the CapShare910 from Hewlett-Packard. I found the challenge of providing optimal performance given tight constraints on power and cost to be intriguing. Our Geode team utilizes state-of-the-art synthesis and CAD tools to allow designers to work at high level and implement a lot of complexity per engineer. Working on Geode for AMD has given me the opportunity to work with an excellent team. Working on a wide variety of industry-standard interfaces and tools has broadened my experience and enhanced my career.

I have lived in the Chicago area, in Boston, and have many friends I visit in California, yet I love living and working in Colorado. The 'front range' along the mountains has a vibrant high-tech environment. Companies such as AMD, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Xilinx, and others have major campuses here. The mountains rising in the West is a beautiful backdrop for my morning commute. On the weekends the mountains are great for hiking, skiing, mountain biking, or just driving through in my car. The communities around Longmont provide a wide range of lifestyle options – from the 'young and hip' college town atmosphere in Boulder to the family-friendly developments around Longmont.

After working in the aerospace industry at Lockheed Martin for 3 years, I came to work at Cyrix which eventually became part of National Semiconductor. The division of National including the Longmont Design Center was then bought by AMD about a year and a half ago. I immediately thought that AMD would be an excellent fit for this team who has historically been focused on microprocessor design. I have been very impressed by our team’s renewed focus getting the customer to market quickly by providing solutions rather than just silicon. I have managed the development of two different reference design kits which are crucial to enabling a quick time to market for our customers. Being a part of AMD has helped this entire Longmont team push technology boundaries and accept new challenges making this a very dynamic and exciting place to work.
