Q:What is the True Performance Initiative?
A:AMD is setting out to assist customers in understanding the benefits of PC performance. The initiative will also define a new, more accurate measure of PC processor performance.

Q:Why do end users need a new performance metric?
A:End users who rely only on megahertz as an indicator for performance do not have a complete picture of PC processor performance and may pay the price of missed expectations.

Q:When will you announce the PC processor performance metric?
A:We will announce the performance metric when we are able to determine a reliable performance metric to meet the needs of end users.

Q:What will the new metric really measure?
A:The TPI will look beyond PC processor frequency and focus on actual performance of the processor for a wide variety of applications.

Q:How does AMD intend to ensure that the TPI activities are initiated and carried out?
A:Strong leadership is essential to ensure that this initiative is successful. To that end, AMD is creating a new senior staff position - the VP of Customer Advocacy, reporting to the Office of the CEO. Patrick Moorhead has been named to this position and will be responsible for ensuring that AMD maintains a focus on consumers. He will spearhead the True Performance Initiative.

Q:What will be the responsibilities of Patrick Moorhead’s new role?
A:Moorhead will be the voice of the home and business consumer inside of AMD. As the VP of Customer Advocacy, he will be responsible for ensuring that AMD is looking out for users’ computing needs. His first task will be to spearhead the True Performance Initiative.
