AMD to Co-Sponsor Microsoft's DirectX Seminar Day
SUNNYVALE, CA -- May 6, 1998 --AMD today announced its co-sponsorship of the Microsoft Windows DirectX Seminar taking place after the Computer Game Developers Conference, May 9th, in the Long Beach Convention Center.
The Microsoft Windows DirectX Seminar is designed for software developers who are committed to building the best computer games, while using the best platform for audio, graphics and Internet multimedia. This seminar gives developers the opportunity to get the latest information on API developments - straight from the source - at the most comprehensive conference on DirectX gaming technology.
AMD's Jim MacDonald, manager of developer technologies, will lead a technical session on "3DNow!™ technology and Direct3D," 2:15- 3:15 p.m., in the Pacific Room of the Long Beach Convention Center. 3DNow!™ technology is expected to be available in AMD processors later in Microsoft Corporation has pledged to support AMD's new 3D instruction set, named 3DNow!™, in DirectX 6.0, a common set of APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) for multimedia services in the Windows® platforms. DirectX 6.0 is expected to be available in July 1998, and general beta of DirectX 6.0 will be released to attendees at the CGDC DirectX Seminar Day.
