AMD Names Programmable Logic Company
SUNNYVALE, CA -- January 20, 1998 --AMD today announced that Vantis Corporation will be the name of its programmable logic company.
Vantis is being formed to better serve the specialized requirements of programmable logic customers. The company designs, develops and markets programmable logic products, taking advantage of AMD's advanced process technology and wafer manufacturing and packaging capabilities.
The naming of Vantis Corporation is the latest milestone in a process that began last year when AMD announced the intent to form a programmable logic subsidiary. Since then, Vantis has established a worldwide dedicated sales force and a dedicated team of field applications engineers.
"Vantis is a 28 year-old startup backed by a multi-billion dollar parent company with world-class manufacturing capabilities, leading-edge technology and a global scope," said Rich Forte, president of Vantis Corporation. "We are already one of the industry's leading suppliers of programmable logic. By forming Vantis we will be able to focus more on offering superior, cost-effective solutions that allow our customers to get to market before their competition. Vantis is committed to make its customers winners."
Vantis also unveiled its new logo and worldwide web site at www.vantis.com. The logo can be viewed and downloaded from the web site. Vantis' new toll-free number is 1-888-826-8472 (VANTIS2).
Vantis will continue to utilize AMD's worldwide Distributors. In addition, Vantis will receive administrative support functions from AMD.
