AMD Partners with Bill Graham Presents in Music Festival at Shoreline Amphitheatre

SUNNYVALE, CA -- April 3, 1997 --For the first time in its 28-year history, local integrated circuit manufacturer AMD will sponsor a major U.S. music series--the Shoreline Amphitheatre's 1997 concert season.

Amphitheatre's 1997 concert season. Superstar Tina Turner will be among the first artists to perform at the AMD Music Festival at the Shoreline Amphitheatre. Turner's "Wildest Dreams" tour will come to the Shoreline on May 23. Other highlights include Rush, No Doubt, Kenny G, the Indigo Girls, the Dave Matthews Band and the San Francisco Symphony. In addition, the series includes special events such as New Orleans by the Bay and the Blues Music Festival, featuring B.B. King, Robert Cray and Jimmie Vaughan. More shows are being added to the series, which runs through the fall.

AMD, based in Sunnyvale, produces chips that empower people to lead more productive lives by creating, processing, and communicating information and knowledge.

AMD joined in this union of high technology and entertainment with Bill Graham Presents, operator of the Shoreline Amphitheatre, to increase its name recognition. "This sponsorship is another step toward our goal to build broad awareness of AMD and our contributions to the personal computer and communications industries," said Tom Stites, AMD vice president of communications. "Sponsoring the AMD Music Festival at the Shoreline Amphitheatre reflects our energy and creativity, and is a dynamic way to promote awareness of AMD here in Silicon Valley."

A kiosk featuring AMD career information will be placed in the amphitheatre, providing local residents the opportunity to explore employment possibilities at the company. In addition, AMD and Bill Graham Presents are evaluating interactive Internet broadcast possibilities available through the partnership.
