AMD-K6™ MMX Processor Wins Hardware Product Award at Retailvision '97
SUNNYVALE, CA -- April 8, 1997 --The new AMD-K6™ MMX processor was voted the "Best New Product-Hardware" by retail buyers and vendors of consumer electronics who participated in last week's RetailVision '97 trade show in Los Angeles. The AMD-K6™ processor, introduced on APRIL 2, is the personal computer industry's highest performance Microsoft® Windows® compatible x86 microprocessor. It is smaller, faster, easier to use, more energy-efficient and less expensive than a Pentium Pro. RetailVision, sponsored by TWICE Magazine, Variety and Ingram Micro, attracts the nation's largest contingent of focused retail buyers, merchandisers, and management teams who represent 6,000 storefronts and purchase more than $40 billion in retail merchandise each year.
"AMD has a long history of delivering compatible processor solutions for personal computing, having shipped nearly 100 million x86 processors, including 50 million Windows compatible CPUs in the last five years," said Dave Sheffler, AMD's director of channel sales and marketing. "That tradition of compatibility and quality, coupled with our competitive pricing, helps us bring a compelling value proposition to the retail channel," Sheffler said. "We're grateful that RetailVision participants appreciate the value our product represents."
