AMD Offers Flash Memory Miniature Card Evaluation Kit

SUNNYVALE, CA -- April 14, 1997 --AMD today introduced its Miniature Card Evaluation Kit which provides a complete and convenient tool for evaluating the AMD Flash Memory Miniature Card. This kit permits users to evaluate the cards using industry standard FTL software at a very low price.

"The AMD Miniature Card Evaluation Kit provides a simple and inexpensive solution for users who wish to evaluate our Miniature Cards," said Walid Maghribi, vice president and general manager of AMD's Non-Volatile Memory Division. "Included in the kit is all of the necessary software and hardware, thus providing customers with a flexible tool to optimize their design for the Miniature Card application."

Each Miniature Card Evaluation Kit includes the following:

  • One AMD 3V- 2MB Miniature Card (AmMCL002AWP-150).
  • User's Guide
  • SCM SwapBox and FTL
  • Type II PCMCIA adapter that holds 3-Volt Miniature Card.
  • Allows Miniature Card to be used in notebook PC with PCMCIA slot or with SCM SwapBox
  • M-Systems FTL Software
  • Offers TrueFFS® File System, socket and card services software for Win 3.x and Win95.
  • Embed Utility and Source Code
  • Allows embedded designers the flexibility to develop their own software when using AMD' Flash Miniature Cards. Sample source code is provided in C.

The Miniature Card Evaluation kit is priced at $299. Use of the evaluation kit requires a 486 class or higher PC with an ISA-Bus slot.
