AMD Announces Corvette Giveaway at Embedded Systems Conference

AMD Announces Corvette Giveaway at Embedded Systems Conference

AUSTIN, TEXAS -- September 15, 1997 --AMD today announced that it is sponsoring the Time-to-Market Race Game at the Embedded Systems Conference (ESC) West Sept. 29 to Oct. 2 in San Jose, California. AMD, along with 21 FusionE86(sm) partners will put the winner in the driver's seat of a 1997 Chevrolet Corvette.

"The 1997 Corvette was chosen for the giveaway because it's similar to the AMD E86(tm) family of embedded processors," said Rex Meek, director of marketing and systems engineering for AMD's Logic Products Division. "Like the Corvette, the E86 family of processors provide outstanding price and performance."

The black, 5.7-liter V8-engine-powered Corvette is valued at more than $45,000. Its options package includes a six-speed transmission, leather power sports seats, blue transparent roof, dual-zone air conditioning, memory package, dual halogen fog lamps and the Z51 handling package.

AMD's displays at the show will feature the E86 family's scalability with 16- or 32-bit data paths and 12MHz to 133MHz clock speeds, cache memory, a host of peripherals and outstanding tool support from the FusionE86 Partners. Several solutions combining these parts with AMD Flash and EPROM memory, Ethernet controllers and linecard integrated circuits will be presented.

To participate in the game, contestants must visit the AMD booth (number 428) in the San Jose Convention Center and those of the participating FusionE86(sm) Partner Program members. Participants must complete the game by 2 p.m PDT on Oct. 2. The grand prize winner will be drawn at 3 p.m. PDT on Oct. 3. Game rules, details and maps will be available in the ESC West show guide. Maps will also be available at the AMD and Fusion Partner booths. Time-to-Market Game participants who want to get a head start can attend an AMD technical session on "Interfacing to DRAM" from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 29 in room J29 of the convention center.
