Western Scientific Will Integrate Latest Dual-Core
Amd Opteron™ Processors Into Existing Computing Products
San Diego, CA -- September 26, 2005 --Western Scientific, a global provider of high-performance computing and reliable storage solutions, today announced integration of the new Dual-Core AMD Opteron™ processor Model 880 and Model 280 into their existing server and workstation products. The TeraBLADE, and KiloCLUSTER high performance computing clusters, FusionA64 servers and workstations, FusionA8 8-way servers, Fusion2K Digital Film Review Servers, and FusionSA Integrated Storage Servers will be offered with these latest, powerful AMD Dual-Core Opteron processors.
Dual-Core AMD Opteron processor Models 880, 280 and 180 are AMD’s fourth set of dual-core processors for the server and workstation markets, advancing AMD’s leadership position in multi-core processing. Models 880 and 280 fit within platforms based on the existing 95W power infrastructure offering improved performance/watt, while also supporting AMD PowerNow!™ technology with Optimized Power Management.
