Arima NK147 and NM47 Series Products Optimized for Quad-Core AMD Opteron™ Processors

NK147 delivers double performance in a slim size; Arima’s new “flagship” NM47 series provides a smart and secure storage solution

Taipei, Taiwan -- September 10, 2007 --Arima Computer Corp., a leader in the server industry that produces high-quality server products, announced the launch of its NK147 and NM47 series (NM479, NM478, NM477, NM474, NM473, NM471) motherboard and barebone products which support the Quad-Core AMD Opteron™ processor, the industry-defining native quad-core processor which continues AMD’s tradition of energy efficiency, performance and virtualization leadership.

Delivering high performance and energy-efficiency, the NK147 is slim in size and can be installed in two pieces in a 1U system. In addition to supporting Second-Generation AMD Opteron™ processors, the NK147 supports new Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors in the same socket with the addition of innovative power management capabilities such as Dual Dynamic Power Management™, which offers separate power planes for cores and memory controller for optimum performance with reduced power consumption. NK147 supports four DDR2-533/667/800 registered DIMM slots and offering up to 16GB memory capacity. Six SATA II ports provide S/W RAID 0,1,5,10 and JBOB function, one PCI-E x16 slot provide flexible expansion function, and connects with NVIDIA 3400 chipsets.

Launched as Arima's new flagship server product, the 2-way NM47 series features NVIDIA's single-chip media and communications processor (MCP55 Professional) solution and supports up to 64GB of DDR2 memory that operates at frequencies up to 667MHz. As a smart storage product, NM47 series also integrates a Raid-on-chip Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) controller to support hardware RAID 5 and BBU (Battery backup unit), which offers high data security and protection. NM47 series also provide different combination of PCI Express and PCI-X slots to fulfill different expansion requirement.

Additionally, Both NK147 and NM47 series fully support OPMA (Open Platform Management Architecture), which uses the OPMA-industry-standard connector, offers high-performance and high-quality iKVM management and full IPMI 2.0 compliant.

"The Arima NK147 and NM47 series support the Quad-Core AMD Opteron processor to satisfy the demanding requirement of our customers by increasing data processing speed, energy-efficient computing, and scalability. Specifically, NM47 series supports two processors and integrated high-performance Raid-on-chip SAS solution (Hardware RAID 5 and BBU), providing up to eight cores and 64GB which delivers outstanding computing power and helps increase the protection of important data," said LC Tsai, President of Arima Server Business Unit. "NM47 series is a top of the line quad-core ready server product. NK147 is the slimmest among other motherboards with the same specification, increases the number of systems in 1U application, and provides a two-fold performance in same space, making it an ideal choice for the mid-size cooperate user.”

“Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors deliver industry-leading levels of energy-efficiency without sacrificing the superior performance required to run mission-critical applications,” said Billy Wang, Corporate Vice President of Greater China Sales, AMD (NYSE: AMD). “By incorporating Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors into their latest server products, Arima helps bring improved levels of performance and performance-per-watt to a broad range of enterprise clients.”

Arima NK147 and NM47 series motherboard and barebone products will reach mass production by Q3. NM46 series and NK12 series can also support Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors through a BIOS upgrade. Please contact Arima Server Business Unit for product details and procurement matters.
