RackSaver Introduces World’s First Rack-Optimized 1U Server With The New AMD Athlon™ MP Processor 2000+
Another breakthrough in server density and performance
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA -- March 13, 2002 --Today, RackSaver has introduced a 19” 1U rack-optimized server powered by AMD’s (NYSE: AMD) just-released AMD Athlon™ MP processor 2000+ making it the fastest dual AMD Athlon MP processor-based server available on the market today. The launch of RackSaver’s new rack-optimized server called the RS-1132 coincides with AMD’s March 13 introduction of the AMD Athlon MP processor 2000+.
Continuing to lead the way in server density, RackSaver’s RS-1132 allows for up to 88 of the AMD Athlon MP processors 2000+ to be installed in a standard seven-foot cabinet occupying only 6 square feet of floor space. Used mainly in supercomputing solutions, the RS-1132 employs RackSaver’s proprietary-super-efficient cooling subsystem that offers extreme efficiency and reliability. The RS-1132 utilizes Double Data Rate (DDR) memory and can house up to four hard drives, along with CD-ROM and floppy variations making the server extremely versatile for most applications. The RS-1132 also has a 64Bit/66MHz available expansion slot for high speed interconnects used in supercomputing clusters such as GigE, Dolphin SCI, and Myricom Myrinet.
“The RS-1132 is an ideal supercomputing cluster node,” says David Driggers, CEO, RackSaver. “Clustering groups of these dual AMD Athlon MP servers together each with its own individual processors, memory, hard drive, and connectivity, can be made to perform as one large, very fast, server.” "Whether its processing seismic data, solving complex genetic problems, or rendering the latest multimillion dollar movie, our RS-1132 with the AMD Athlon MP processor 2000+ will provide cutting-edge performance and outstanding reliability by bringing the latest technology to the supercomputer market," says Driggers. RackSaver’s immediate plans are to introduce the new server into the supercomputing cluster market.
AMD Athlon MP Processor 2000+ Key Features
