AMD Appoints Marty Seyer Vice President of Server Business, Ed Ellett Vice President of Client Business

New Organizational Structure Strengthens Customer Focus

SUNNYVALE, CA -- September 18, 2002 --AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced the appointment of Marty Seyer as vice president of Server Business. Seyer will be responsible for AMD’s server business, including marketing, strategy, business planning, product planning and associated operations. He will report to Dirk Meyer, senior vice president of AMD’s Computation Products Group (CPG).

Ed Ellett, previously AMD’s vice president of marketing for CPG, will serve as vice president of Client Business, responsible for marketing and defining product development and operations for AMD’s mobile, desktop and workstation products. He will continue to report to Dirk Meyer.

“Enhancing our focus on distinct client and server market segments will help to ensure that AMD provides solutions tailored to specific customer needs,” said Meyer.

“With a strong server market background and more than 23 years of technology, marketing and management experience, Marty is the ideal choice to lead AMD’s new Server Business division,” continued Meyer. “His strengths in the server market complement Ed Ellett’s proven track record and expertise in the desktop, notebook and workstation computer segments. I am confident that we have a winning management team in place to lead AMD’s microprocessor solutions.”

“This is an exciting time to join AMD,” said Seyer. “AMD has successfully grown its business in the server market with the AMD Athlon™ MP processor. With the upcoming release of multi-processing solutions based on AMD’s 64-bit technology, AMD has the opportunity to become a leader in the mainstream server market.”

Before joining AMD, Seyer was president and CEO of Penguin Computing, Inc., a leading vendor of AMD processor-based Linux servers. Previously, Seyer spent six years at NCR Corporation, where he served as vice president and general manager of High Availability Servers after holding positions of increasing responsibility. Prior to joining NCR, Seyer held senior product marketing and management positions with Dell Computer Corporation. At Dell, Seyer led Dell’s entry into the server market with the launch of the PowerEdge brand of servers. He has also served in a variety of management and marketing roles at Tandem Computers, Inc. and AT&T.

Seyer is a Certified Teradata Engineer and frequent panelist and speaker at industry events. Since 2001, Ellett has been vice president of marketing for AMD’s Computation Products Group. Prior to joining AMD, Ellett held various senior management positions in Compaq Computer Corporation’s Commercial PC and Workstation Business Unit and Commercial Unit, responsible for leading Compaq’s North America Commercial PC and Workstation product business strategy.
