AMD Announces AMD Assured™ Program Motherboard With ASUS, NVIDIA

SUNNYVALE, CA -- December 4, 2002 --AMD (NYSE: AMD) has teamed with ASUS and NVIDIA to promote the ASUS A7N266-VM/AA motherboard, a mainstream micro-ATX motherboard that has met the AMD Assured™ Program requirements.

The ASUS motherboard is in response to customer demand for an enterprise-class performance with NVIDIA’s nForce chipset and integrated GeForce-based graphics processing unit (GPU).

The AMD Assured Program is designed to help identify AMD processor-based motherboards that provide stability and long-term availability, enable planned technology transitions, and offer manageable platforms for use in commercial desktop systems. AMD Assured motherboards have passed AMD’s stringent manageability and validation tests, and are available for use in commercial offerings.

“The AMD Assured Program helps ensure that system builders have a reliable source for commercial components, enabling them to deliver quality systems that will provide ongoing stability, longevity and compatibility that business customers demand,” said Rich Heye, AMD vice president, platform engineering and infrastructure, Computation Products Group. “The new ASUS motherboard shows AMD’s commitment to bringing our commercial customers world-class technology and enhanced value.”

"ASUS is committed to delivering stable, manageable platforms to our commercial system builders," said Cathy Yu, Marketing Director of ASUS Computer International. "We designed the A7N266-VM/AA platform with our customers' needs in mind, helping them build systems that lower their total cost of ownership by providing a mainstream solution with outstanding components."

"The NVIDIA nForce platform processors incorporate high-level features, including the GeForce2 MX GPU, that are integral to commercial computing environments," said Drew Henry, senior director of platform product management at NVIDIA. "Businesses using the ASUS A7N266-VM/AA motherboard benefit from a system that can drive the high-resolution displays required for today's advanced corporate applications, including complex spreadsheets, graphic-heavy documents, and live Internet/Intranet Webcasts."

AMD Assured motherboards comply with Microsoft's System and Device Requirements 2.0, incorporate the essential management elements of Wired for Management 2.0, and provide an interoperable solution in any networked environment. In addition, the AMD Assured Program requires motherboards remain available in the market for at least 12 months.
