AMD Powers HP Business Personal Computers To Connect Colombian Families, Schools And Businesses With The Internet

High-performance AMD Athlon™ XP processor 2000+ powers Compaq D315 Business PCs that will help bring state-of-the-art technology to Republic of Colombia

SUNNYVALE, CALIF -- December 11, 2002 --AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced that its award-winning processors will power up to 180,000 Compaq D315 Business PCs from HP to help bring computer technology and the Internet to families, schools and businesses in several Colombian cities.

Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM), the largest public services company in Colombia, and the municipality of Medellín chose the Compaq D315 Business PC from HP for a project designed to promote Internet access for groups that do not currently have computer technology. Qualifying families, schools and businesses in selected Colombian cities will be offered specially financed technology packages that include a computer, monitor, Internet access, installation, HP technical support, training and telephone assistance.
