AMD Announces ‘Extreme Performance’ Golf Team

—PGA pros Chris DiMarco and Brian Gay unite with AMD to promote achievement in golf, high-performance PC processors—

SUNNYVALE, CA -- February 14, 2002 --AMD (NYSE: AMD), a global manufacturer of high performance PC processors and flash memory devices, today announced that it is sponsoring pro golfers Chris DiMarco and Brian Gay on the newly formed AMD “Extreme Performance” golf team.

“PGA TOUR golf events are increasingly popular worldwide and an excellent venue to share our message about the benefits of competition,” said Lee Little, AMD’s director of Field Marketing for the Americas. “These two pro golfers embody the qualities that AMD embraces—passion about their chosen profession and a desire to be the best. Both golfers have made enormous strides on the PGA TOUR, much like AMD has in the manufacturing of high performing, stable and reliable microprocessors. We welcome them to the AMD fold and wish them both a great 2002 on the PGA TOUR.”

“‘Extreme performance’ golf is what every pro golfer strives for,” said DiMarco, who as of February 10 was ranked first on the PGA TOUR money list. “Both AMD and I are committed to achieving beyond expectations this year.”

DiMarco is off to a great start in 2002, winning the Phoenix Open while finishing fifth in the Mercedes Championships and sixth in the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic.

Gay, who finished among the top 10 five times in 2001, agreed with DiMarco about working with AMD. “Just as AMD makes high-performing PC processors, including the AMD Athlon™ XP, I plan to play high-performance golf on the PGA TOUR this year,” Gay said.

The two golfers will sport the AMD corporate logo on their golf shirts while playing this year in PGA TOUR events around the world.
