AMD Veteran Appointed to Cabinet Position in the State Government of Saxony, Germany
-Dr. Martin Gillo named as Secretary of Economic Affairs and Labor-
Dresden, Germany -- May 3, 2002 --
AMD today announced that Dr. Martin Gillo, director of Human Resources for Europe, has been appointed to a cabinet position in the State Government of Saxony, Germany. Dr. Gillo will serve as the State's new Secretary of Economic Affairs and Labor.
"Dr. Gillo's contributions to AMD's success are vast and innumerable," said Hector de J. Ruiz, CEO and president of AMD. "His appointment is both a validation of the leadership and drive he has exhibited at AMD for the past 20 years and recognition of the tremendous achievements of the entire AMD Saxony team. Dr.Gillo has been with AMD for more than 20 years. Most recently, he played a key role in the establishment of AMD's Fab 30 microprocessor facility in Dresden, Germany, serving as Geschäftsführer and Director of Human Resources since 1997.
