The new Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors are built on 45nm process technology, have 6 MB of shared L3 cache, and offer support for DDR2-800 memory. These enhancements can all be realized using the same socket as previous generations of Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors as well as Dual-Core AMD Opteron processors. In addition to the performance enhancements offered by 45nm technology, Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors include many energy efficiency features such as AMD PowerNow!™ technology and Dual Dynamic Power Management™. The new Quad-Core AMD Opteron processor enables users to realize improved performance without compromising on power consumption.
