Rackable Systems Announces Adoption Of AMD Opteron™ Processor Models 252 And 852

New Line of Processors Complements Rackable Systems’ High-Density Server Designs

MILPITAS, CALIF. -- February 14, 2005 --Rackable Systems, Inc., a leading provider of compute and storage servers for scale out data center deployments, today announced the adoption of the newly launched AMD Opteron™ processor Models 252 and 852 with Direct Connect Architecture. Available across Rackable Systems’ line of highly dense, thermally efficient servers, the newest AMD Opteron processor series offers high performance and seamless integration with Rackable Systems’ open architecture designs.

The AMD Opteron processor offers compatibility with today's 32-bit software, with a manageable upgrade path to 64-bit capabilities without the need to modify hardware infrastructure. With a compatible operating system, applications can address the full range of memory from each processor. Rackable Systems' four-way AMD Opteron processor-based servers feature up to 64GB of system memory for reliable, optimized performance.
