Zoran Announces Enhanced Print Driver Developement Kit For Microsoft Windows x64 Editions

IPS/DDK 2.5 Improves Raster Inkjet Support

Sunnyvale, Calif. -- April 21, 2005 --Zoran Corporation (Nasdaq: ZRAN) announced that its Windows print driver development kit, IPS/DDK, has been enhanced to support upcoming Client and Server editions of Microsoft Windows that run on the "x64" architecture pioneered by AMD (NYSE: AMD). The new release, IPS/DDK 2.5, also adds improved capabilities for raster inkjet printers and multifunction peripherals (MFPs) in addition to performance and feature enhancements.

Zoran will be demonstrating IPS/DDK 2.5 in a technology suite at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel and Towers in conjunction with Microsoft’s WinHEC and Driver DevCon conferences in Seattle from April 25-28.

“AMD worked closely with Zoran to help ensure that the IPS/DDK driver development kits and the print drivers built with IPS/DDK operate correctly on x86-based 64-bit platforms such as the AMD Athlon™ 64 processor and AMD Opteron™ processor,” said Pat Patla, director, server/workstation marketing, Microprocessor Business Unit, Computation Products Group, AMD. “As the growing software ecosystem continues to mature and support AMD64 processors with Direct Connect Architecture, printer and MFP original equipment manufacturers can continue developing full-featured drivers for AMD64 platforms.”

“Microsoft is pleased with the additional features included in IPS/DDK 2.5,” said Brian Marr, senior product manager, Microsoft Corporation. “Specifically, Zoran has successfully used Microsoft’s supplied driver cores, and complied with the Windows printing architecture, to bring 64-bit compatibility and reliability to this new solution. OEMs now have a better platform on which to build their drivers.”

"Zoran continues to target key growth areas in our print driver business. The release of IPS/DDK 2.5 is a significant contribution to the raster and PDL market. Improved support for raster inkjet devices and the addition of x64 support allows our customers to offer a broader range of products with a single development effort,” said Simon Dolan, vice president and general manager, Zoran’s Imaging Division.

IPS/DDK is a technology platform that extends Microsoft’s Universal Print Driver (Unidrv) and PostScript Print Driver (PScript) development kits. Zoran’s IPS/DDK allows original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to reduce the development time of highly-customized, fully-featured print drivers, and to easily migrate to the standard core drivers supplied with Microsoft operating systems. With IPS/DDK, OEMs gain full control over device features and functionality as well as the ability to provide a consistent OEM-designed user interface that matches or surpasses “monolithic” drivers.

The first generation of Zoran's Unidrv- and PScript-based print driver development kit powered color laser printers from Hewlett-Packard. OEMs are currently developing print drivers based on IPSconductor and IPS/DDK technologies for future release.

IPS/DDK 2.5 is available now. For more information, please visit www.zoran.com or contact an imaging division sales representative at 781-638-7500.
