DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Design, develop, and debug Mobile BIOS (System Software) and embedded microcontroller for internal/external systems and platforms that use AMD CPU. AMD chipset, and 3rd party chipset. SPECIFIC JOB FUNCTIONS: The successful candidate will get involved in day-to-day BIOS and embedded microcontroller software development work using PC assembly and C language. Will need to interact with internal manufacturing organizations, BIOS vendors, chipset vendors, and customers. The candidate must feel comfortable working with PC hardware architecture and have strong debugging skills. The following are typical tasks that the engineer will be responsible for: *Design new Mobile features required by AMD CPU and chipset in BIOS and embedded microcontroller; *Develop new mobile features for the above design; *Sustain existing BIOS; *Debug BIOS related issues; *Assist CPU validation, power measurement, platform validation, and debug engineers to develop/debug system and silicon issues; *Provide consultation to internal and external customers regarding AMD features and programming requirements. PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: BS in EE, CS, CE, with 5+ experience, or MS with 3+ years of industry experience related to BIOS, firmware, or system software development At AMD, we are committed to equal employment opportunity.
