“The AMD Integrated Graphics market is the exact opposite of what we have recently seen in discrete graphics. Where NVIDIA had a several-month lead over ATI with the 7800 GTX, ATI introduced RS480 almost a year ago. In that market, it has taken NVIDIA almost a year to respond with the GeForce 6100 Integrated Graphics.”
“…the ATI and NVIDIA integrated graphics did finish both benchmarks - something that many value solutions fail to do - and ATI was the better performer in 3D Graphics.”
“It should also be pointed out that NVIDIA is just introducing AMD integrated graphics for the Athlon 64, while ATI has had competent integrated graphics solutions for both AMD Athlon 64 and Intel Socket 775 platforms for over a year.”
“The great majority of integrated graphics boards are now based on the Intel platform, where NVIDIA does not yet offer an integrated graphics solution. That fact alone will keep ATI as a bigger player in the integrated graphics market.”
“…the ATI Radeon Xpress 200, with the new RS482 core…will provide business users, internet browsers, and casual computer users with competent graphics.”
“Not everyone's dream is to run Fear on an Apple 30" Cinema with two 7800GTX or a Crossfire X1800 setup. Most users will find the graphics capabilities…pretty decent compared to the other choices in today's integrated graphics market.”

“For their first effort at an AMD Athlon 64 chipset, we can only say we are beyond impressed with the ATI RX480/RS480 chipset. No matter how we compare the performance the ATI RX480 is competitive or a bit faster than the best Socket 939 boards we have tested at AnandTech. That in itself would be reason enough to suggest a long, hard look at the ATI RX480 chipset, but there's more. ATI also did their homework in this go round; delivering a board that will excite any enthusiast who gives it a whirl. nVidia got to their position of prominence in the AMD world with solid boards that catered to Enthusiasts. ATI appears to finally understand that pleasing the OEM market is not the same as exciting Enthusiasts. The ATI Bullhead is a monster overclocker with amazing performance, and ATI deserves huge praise for their efforts and their results with their first AMD chipset.”
Tomshardware.com – Patrick Schmidt & Achim Roos – (ATI) Radeon Xpress 200 for AMD chipset
“… the (ATI) Radeon Xpress 200 system did not only run adequately fast, but was also as stable as a finished product…it is safe to say that ATi's efforts put into expanding the chipset business were successful. Knowing that (ATI) Radeon Xpress 200 is a viable product, there will be lots of users willing to purchase ATi powered motherboard solutions...”
Hothardware.com – Marco Chiapetta – (ATI) Radeon Xpress 200 for AMD chipset
“ATi seems to have done a good job with the RADEON XPRESS 200 chipset. Even though we compared the performance of a BETA reference board to an established and mature, publicly available motherboard based on NVIDIA's nForce 3 Ultra, the (ATI) RADEON XPRESS 200 was very competitive. Based on the results we've seen here, we'd have to say ATi has successfully developed a chipset for the Athlon 64 / Sempron that performs on par with its competition in most circumstances…”
“ATi's Northbridge has a complete feature-set, with 22 PCI Express lanes and a full DirectX 9.0 compliment IGP that's currently unrivaled in this space…”
Driverheaven.net – Allan Campbell – (ATI) Radeon Xpress 200 for AMD chipset
“The results speak volumes about the new Radeon Xpress from ATI. Compared to the VIA K8T800 Pro Chipset the ATI motherboard performs better in almost every department. In those tests (really only Sisoft Sandra) that it doesn’t beat the VIA model it performs to the same standard. Highlights of the testing were video encoding and gaming. In our real world encoding test the ATI chipset not only allowed the a64 4000+ to perform better than the VIA chipset, it allowed the A64 4000+ to almost match the performance of a FX55 on the VIA system and so in doing so getting the equivalent of 150mhz CPU speed increase out of the same chip.”
“Is there anything we’d change about the chipset? Well, to be honest not a lot no.”
Extremetech.com - MSI RS480M2-IL – Radeon Xpress 200 for AMD motherboard
“If you're building a small, quiet desktop computer for a work environment or to put in the kid's room, this is an excellent choice. It's also good news for those trying to build cool and quiet Media Center computers, as the integrated graphics is fully compatible with Windows MCE and delivers nice video quality. Just pop in a TV tuner card and a modest CPU with a quiet cooler and you're good to go. The integrated graphics is definitely capable enough to handle hi-def video (from an HD Wonder or similar card) and standard desktop duties…”
Hexus.net - EQS A58XK9-ALF Radeon Xpress 200P motherboard
“From a performance point of view, things look most impressive, with this RX480-based motherboard at worst keeping pace and at best beating out the nForce 3 board we pitted it against here.”
Techreport.com – Shuttle ST0G5 – Radeon Xpress 200 for AMD
“At the end of the day, the ST20G5's real appeal is its integrated graphics, which is a cut above competing solutions. Enthusiasts who have no intention of using the IGP, either as a primary graphics solution or for SurroundView, may have a hard time swallowing the ST20G5's drawbacks. For enthusiasts planning to run a discrete graphics card, Shuttle's nForce4-powered SN25P is a more appealing XPC. “From a OEM point of view, the RADEON XPRESS 200 seems like a godsend and the announced partner list bears that out. The ability to build a computer system without the additional cost of a add-in graphics card with excellent performance and features is one of the reasons Intel dominates the graphics chipset market. I would hope many integrators build systems with this type of board, as the graphics fully support DirectX 9.0 and is a noticeable improvement over the 915G chipset from Intel.”
The casual gamer and corporations will love the RADEON XPRESS 200 chipset…For now, there is no higher performing or feature-rich integrated video solution on the market, and likely we won’t see higher integrated performance until they release a new chipset with integrated graphics based upon on their next generation architecture. Corporations will like the integrated video, as it is DirectX 9.0 compliant and will likely support Windows Longhorn functionality.”
Techniz.co.uk – TUL AX480A-GF – Radeon Xpress 200P for AMD motherboard
“The TUL AX480A-GF motherboard was featuring the RADEON XPRESS 200P (RX480) Chipset that delivers significant performance gains with variety of new generation architectures including dual-channel DDR, PCI-Express interface and Serial-ATA interface for improving storage performance. The motherboard itself has a lot of built in features such as Gigabit LAN and RAID function. In terms of performance, this motherboard did a great job as you can see on the performance benchmarking and testing section. However, TUL AX480A-GF motherboard is still a very good motherboard for the AMD64 platform in terms of the performance and overclocking. The MSRP of this motherboard is at around $110 USD which is very affordable for a AMD64 motherboard.”
