BOXX Unveils The First 4-Processor, Dual-Core AMD Opteron™-Based Graphics Workstation

The Ultimate in 64-bit Graphics Workstation Performance

AUSTIN, TX -- August 1, 2005 --BOXX Technologies, a leading provider of high-performance workstations for digital content creation professionals, will give SIGGRAPH 2005 attendees the opportunity to witness the introduction of the most powerful x86 graphics workstation available today. Based on four Dual-Core AMD Opteron™ processors for a total of eight processing cores, this new system will change the experience of working with a desk-side workstation.

Launched in April 2005, Dual-Core AMD Opteron processors are the next evolution of AMD64's Direct Connect Architecture and were designed from the ground up to directly connect two cores on a single die, along with memory, I/O and dedicated caches, improving overall system performance and efficiency and eliminating the bottlenecks inherent in a front-side-bus architecture.

Designed around four Dual-Core AMD Opteron processors, BOXX Technologies will deliver a level of graphics and a level of computing performance previously only attainable on Unix/RISC-based systems, but at a fraction of the cost of these proprietary platforms. As a result, artists will be able to enjoy a smooth creative workflow using the same set of familiar tools from start to finish.

"Always driving to take the lead in the delivery of new technology, we're excited to be able to demonstrate the power that future workstations will bring to this market," said Ed Caracappa, director of sales, BOXX Technologies. "Incorporating four Dual-Core AMD Opteron processors in a desk-side package is a performance dream come true for power hungry customers."

"AMD64 dual-core technology is accelerating the digital renaissance in content creation initiated by AMD's single-core 64-bit technology, and we believe it will have an effect on everyone from the top pros to consumers creating at home," said Charlie Boswell, director of Digital Media and Entertainment, AMD. "Dual-Core AMD Opteron processors now available in powerful artist workstations from BOXX Technologies provide industry-leading scalability and performance, while helping to ensure a seamless migration to 64-bit computing."

SIGGRAPH attendees may see the system in AMD booth #1732

Availability expected in late Q3 2005. For more details, contact BOXX at 512-835-0400 or visit the BOXX Web site at www.boxxtech.com.
