AMD Announces AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor High-Tech Treasure Hunt at Comdex 2003

—Grand prize winner of geocaching promotion will receive a desktop system based on the AMD Athlon™ 64 processor and a new GPS unit—

SUNNYVALE, CA -- November 3, 2003 --AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced the AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor High-Tech Treasure Hunt at COMDEX 2003, a geocaching promotion where participants seek out 15 locations in the greater Las Vegas area. The interactive promotion, which targets the AMD Athlon 64 processor target audience of PC enthusiasts, will begin on Sunday, Nov. 16, and last for 64 hours. Each correctly identified location and submission enters eligible participants in a grand prize drawing for an AMD Athlon 64 processor-based desktop system and a new global positioning system (GPS).

Eligible participants are invited to register at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 16, 2003 at the Las Vegas Hilton to receive promotion information, including waypoints, clues, official rules, and a participant packet. The promotion is limited to the first 250 people who register. Promotion information, a downloadable registration form and complete rules can be found at www.amd.com/lasvegashunt. AMD will have a limited number of GPS units for participants to use on site, so potential entrants are encouraged to bring their own GPS units.

The AMD Athlon 64 Processor High-Tech Treasure Hunt will last 64 hours and conclude on November 19, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. The grand prize winner’s name will be drawn at 6:00 p.m. at the Las Vegas Hilton. Participants must be present at the drawing to win.

The AMD Athlon 64 processor, which launched on Sept. 23, 2003, is the industry’s only Windows®-compatible 64-bit PC processor. Providing access to unprecedented software performance for current applications and designed to run next-generation software, the AMD Athlon 64 processor is designed to allow users to experience movie-like gaming and prepare for a new world of 3-D interactive games and digital media.
