AMD Validated Server Program: Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Validated Server Program?
The Validated Server Program (VSP) was designed to bring qualified, stable and quality server platforms to the solution provider market. The platforms give the solution provider the ability to concentrate on what they do best — bring service and expertise to the customer. The VSP represents a partnership with VSP providers chosen because of their ability to deliver quality, stable and well supported server solutions that you can trust in the most critical of applications.

Why did AMD create this program?
AMD is committed to putting the needs of our customers first, yielding technology innovations that really work for their businesses. Over the past few years, we've witnessed the mounting pressures faced by our Solution Provider partners, particularly in the server marketplace. The Validated Server Program provides specific solutions that are designed to deliver an advantage — exactly what our server Solution Provider partners have been looking for.

What are some of the key benefits of the Validated Server Program?
VSP solutions are designed to help streamline the development cycle and speed time to market, allowing Solution Providers to focus on building revenue through value-added products and services. In addition, VSP enables Solution Providers to offer customers the assurance of proven performance, world-class manufacturing and outstanding service and support.

Is AMD manufacturing these validated servers? If not, who is?
All VSP servers are manufactured by select system manufacturers that share AMD's commitment to quality and customer-centric focus.

Why not just buy the cheapest parts and build an AMD processor-based server in house?
The Validated Server Program provides tested, stable and verified configurations Solution Providers can build on immediately. Using VSP server solutions can help enable Solution Providers to:
  • Save time and money in the development cycle
  • Build revenue through value-added products and services
  • Focus on customer service and other core competencies
  • Capitalize on a real competitive advantage
  • Boost customer satisfaction with proven performance and world-class service and support

Is VSP for servers only or is it available for desktops, workstations, notebooks, etc.?
Initially, the Validated Server Program is only for servers. However, the program has been designed so that it may encompass other product lines in the future.

Will VSP servers be branded as AMD products?
No, these products will be branded by your favorite system builder. They will be easily identified as Validated Server Program servers.

Will these validated servers be available in all regions?
The servers will initially be available in North America and Europe, but will be available in other regions in the near future.

How do you get technical support for these server platforms?
If you have a technical problem with the server platform you should contact the solution provider that provided the server. Your solution provider has the backing of a global support organization with the capability of meeting the service and support needs for mission critical servers.

What choices of platforms do I have in the Validated Server Program?
The Validated Server Program offers two classes of platforms: VSP and VSP Enterprise systems. See the partner pages to view details of each available platform.
