RackSaver Delivers the Highest TPC-C Score on an x86 4P Server

RackSaver’s QuatreX-64 powered by the AMD Opteron™ processor, offers breakthrough performance on enterprise benchmarks Outperforming Comparable Intel processor-based Servers from Industry Leading OEMs

San Diego, CA -- April 22, 2003 --RackSaver, a leading provider of high-density, rack-optimized servers, blade servers and supercomputing clusters, today announced the Transaction Processing Performance Council’s results for its latest enterprise-class server, the QuatreX-64, powered by four AMD Opteron™ processors. The QuatreX-64 received a throughput rating of 82,226 tpmC, the highest performance rating ever for an x86 4P server. The next highest rating in this class is 77,905 tpmC. RackSaver also announced a new MAPI Messaging Benchmark 2 (MMB2) number of 15520 MMB2 on a QuatreX-64 4P server. The next highest rating is 13200 MMB2.

TPC-C is one of the Transaction Processing Performance Council's (www.tpc.org) standard benchmarks for measuring enterprise server performance. TPC-C is an online transaction processing (OLTP) benchmark that simulates a complete computing environment where a population of users executes transactions against a database. The benchmark is centered around the principal activities (transactions) of an order-entry environment.

The TPC-C benchmark results also revealed a sizable gap in price/performance ratio in favor of RackSaver. RackSaver’s QuatreX-64 has a cost of $2.76/ tpmC, which is 36% more economical than the nearest 4P competitor, at $4.31/tpmC. RackSaver achieved these amazing benchmark results utilizing the power of the AMD Opteron processor.

The MAPI Messaging Benchmark (MMB2) was developed by Microsoft to measure a server’s ability to function as a Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server platform. MMB2 measures the throughput of a “Medium User” executing common tasks such as sending, browsing, reading, and forwarding email messages, as well as scheduling tasks and using distribution lists over an eight-hour working day. The MMB2 standard serves as an approved means by which one can compare server platform performance for Microsoft Exchange 2000.

“These industry-leading TPC-C and MMB2 benchmarks are significant to the server industry for a number of reasons,” said RackSaver CEO David Driggers. “These benchmark provides further evidence that RackSaver is the world leader in providing performance and price leading server solutions to the HPC (High Performance Computing) market and with these exceptional results, firmly establishes us as a leader in the Enterprise market. The TPC-C and MMB2 benchmarks have been dominated by industry leading OEMs, which are predominately powered by Intel processors. The QuatreX-64, powered by the AMD Opteron processor, places us atop the list to serve as notice to the industry that the bar has been reset.”

“The TPC-C and MMB2 results announced today validate RackSaver’s QuatreX-64 as an outstanding high-performing four-processor server and further prove the that the AMD Opteron processor delivers industry-leading price/performance ratios in the 64-bit world,” said Ben Williams, director, AMD’s Server/Workstation Business Segment. “These results redefine performance in the enterprise market and it comes as no surprise that this chart-topping RackSaver server is powered by AMD64 technology.”
