Systran Corporation Collaborates with AMD to Develop Ruggedized Cluster Computing Technology
Dayton, Ohio -- November 17, 2003 --Systran Corporation, a leading supplier of highly-specialized, high-performance data communications products for real-time systems, has worked with AMD (NYSE: AMD) on the development of a cluster computing system for real-time applications that is capable of operating in environments where extended temperature, high humidity, high altitude, and shock and vibration are present.
Cluster computing technology allows multiple independent computers to work as an integrated collection of resources. In order to deliver cutting-edge processor technology for its cluster computing system, Systran collaborated with AMD to help integrate four 64-bit capable AMD Opteron™ processors into a rugged 1U enclosure.

The AMD Opteron processor offers a new level of processing for 64-bit applications while providing superior performance for existing 32-bit applications. The inclusion of an integrated memory controller and up to three HyperTransport™ technology links make the AMD Opteron processor the ideal candidate for real-time cluster computing systems.
