Founded in September 1991 by Lindy Wilson, Lindy & the Look Music Productions, Inc. is a full-scale digital audio studio and CD mastering lab. Lindy & the Look Music Productions records albums for churches and bands, as well as recording radio and television commercials.
Computing Challenge
Traditional tape-based studios are limited to recording a maximum of 24 tracks on bulky metal reels. Digital studios have the advantage of recording 96 tracks per song, but can still be severely limited by slow processors. Faster processors are imperative to capitalize on the cutting edge software. At Lindy & the Look Music Productions, 10 employees share eight computers, with each system used about 80 hours weekly. Software regularly used: Steinberg Cubase VST-24 (Virtual Studio Technology) pro 96 track studio, Wavelab, 3DMax, Adobe PhotoARTIST, Netscape Navigator, Windows 98 and Windows NT 4.0, Adobe PhotoShop 5.0, CDr Win CD, Office 2000, Microsoft Word 2000, Microsoft Excel
AMD Answer
Lindy Wilson was humming happily after he added an AMD Athlon processor-based system to his studio. The system allowed Wilson to get 70 tracks of playback streaming audio, complete with full sound effects. Stuttering and silence have completely disappeared from the playback.
