Parasoft Insure++ Enables Faster Delivery of 64-bit Applications

For AMD Opteron™ Processors

MONROVIA, CA -- April 21, 2005 --Parasoft Corporation, a leading provider of solutions for automated software error prevention, announced that Parasoft Insure++, an automated memory error detection solution, now provides support for the new 64-bit development platforms from AMD (NYSE: AMD) for developing business-critical 64-bit applications. Insure++ is the only memory detection solution that supports the 64-bit AMD Opteron™ processors on Linux application servers.

Fortune 1000 enterprises and financial services companies expect solid performance and high reliability from their 64-bit applications. These business-critical, customer-facing applications must function 24/7 without interruption or downtime. Failure of any aspect of these applications can result in unnecessary business risk including revenue loss and customer dissatisfaction. Memory leaks and corruptions are elusive errors that often don’t manifest themselves during testing and threaten application reliability and security.

" We want to provide developers with the ideal platform to create 64-bit applications and are partnering with innovative companies like Parasoft to build the best environment possible," said Pat Patla, director, server/workstation marketing, Microprocessor Business Unit, Computation Products Group, AMD." Insure++ running on AMD Opteron processor-based platforms with Direct Connect Architecture can help C/C++ developers quickly find critical memory errors that can cause application failures. Early error detection and prevention is just one of the many ways AMD is working to create a robust AMD64 software ecosystem."

Insure is a powerful memory corruption and memory leak detection solution for C and C++ applications. It enables developers to find and fix elusive crash-causing memory errors that traditional techniques fail to uncover. By modeling applications at the source code level it can find more errors, in less time, with greater accuracy than any other solution.

" Until today, enterprises that develop 64-bit Linux applications had no way to test for memory errors," said Mark Johnson, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Parasoft. " Insure++ is the only memory error detection solution that works for Linux applications on 64-bit AMD Opteron processors with Direct Connect Architecture and can identify the cause of threaded memory errors in dual-core applications."

More than 40 percent of the Forbes Global 100 companies or their affiliates, representing the world’s most competitive industries, have implemented servers and workstations based on the AMD Opteron processor, the world’s first x86-based processor to deliver both 32- and 64-bit computing.

The AMD Opteron processor, based on AMD64 technology with Direct Connect Architecture, made history as the industry’s first demonstration of a multi-core, x86 processor. Direct Connect Architecture connects multiple processors, the memory controller and the I/O directly to the central processor unit, helping to eliminate the bottlenecks inherent in a front-side bus. The AMD Opteron processor currently provides industry-leading performance-per-watt, a position AMD plans to extend with the launch of dual-core AMD Opteron processors in mid-2005.

About Insure++
Insure++ is an automatic runtime memory error solution that detects hard-to-find errors such as memory corruption, memory leaks, memory allocation errors, variable initialization errors, variable definition conflicts, pointer errors, library errors, and logic errors. By building a database of program elements and then checking values against it, Insure++ is able to achieve the deepest possible understanding of the code under test and flush out even the most hidden defects in C and C++ code.
