Leading Enterprise Management Software Certified On Upcoming AMD Opteron™ Processors
—Altiris, Novell and PowerQuest announce 32-bit certification for AMD’s 32- and 64-bit compatible Hammer technology—
LAS VEGAS -- November 18, 2002 --At Comdex 2002, AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced 32-bit certification for the upcoming 32- and 64-bit compatible AMD Opteron™ processors with Hammer technology from leading enterprise management software developers Altiris, Novell and PowerQuest.
Enterprise management software helps companies manage their information technology assets, security, performance, availability and operations.
“Leading enterprise management software partner support for AMD Opteron processors will help provide customers with compatibility, scalability and stability as they migrate existing 32-bit software to tomorrow’s systems based on AMD Opteron and AMD Athlon™ processors with x86-64 technology,” said Rich Heye, AMD vice president of platform engineering and infrastructure, Computation Products Group. “AMD’s Hammer technology will allow customers to upgrade to new, powerful 64-bit applications when needed, while fully supporting their existing 32-bit investment. Enterprise management software is key to that adoption.”
