| Q: |
What
is the Global Consumer Advisory Board (GCAB)?
|
| A: |
The
GCAB is a high-level panel of respected consumer and small business
experts, academics, journalists and technology futurists from
around the world who convene to discuss and seek to resolve
computing technology issues facing home and small business computer
users. |
|
|
| Q: |
What
is the mission of the GCAB?
|
| A: |
The
GCAB was formed to discuss technology issues facing home and
small business computer users with the purpose of improving
the quality of the end user technology experience.
The GCAB will serve as a hybrid think tank/advisory board that
provides AMD with end-user insight and perspective. In addition
to gaining feedback, AMD will also proactively work with this
group to identify areas in technology where consumers need an
advocate. |
|
|
| Q: |
Who
will head the GCAB?
|
| A: |
Patrick
Moorhead, AMD’s vice president of Customer Advocacy, is the
chairman of the GCAB. In his capacity as chair, Moorhead will
be the external spokesperson for the GCAB. Moorhead’s role is
to help ensure that AMD better understands consumer and end
user needs and issues and that AMD anticipates and acts to meet
these needs. |
|
|
| Q: |
Why
did AMD create the GCAB?
|
| A: |
AMD
has historically focused on providing end users with the best
technology experience and pertinent information to make appropriate
technology purchase decisions. AMD believes that technology
end users need stronger advocates as they receive product information,
purchase and use technology. AMD recognizes that a gap has formed
between technology innovation and home and business computing
users’ understanding and adoption of technology, and it is widening.
AMD formed the GCAB to better understand this issue at a global
level. AMD believes that bringing together experts from around
the world to discuss the issues facing home and business consumers
will help provide possible solutions to this problem. |
|
|
| Q: |
Will
the GCAB focus specifically on the semiconductor industry?
|
| A: |
No.
The GCAB has a broader agenda of improving the technology experience
for home and small business consumers with computing technology,
including hardware, software and communications. As the technology
landscape changes and end users find an increasing number of
product choices, the GCAB will monitor the challenges end users
face — at home and at work — and the solutions available to
them. |
|
|
| Q: |
What
will some of the topics of discussion be for the GCAB?
|
| A: |
Topics
will be focused on computing technology issues important to
small business and consumers including software, hardware and
communications technology. |
|
|
