Environmental Performance Indicators

Operations
AMD collects environmental data from company-owned and operated assembly and test, major research and development and major administrative/design sites worldwide. The following table provides data on our electricity use, water use, and waste generation.

Historical Data

Environmental Performance Indicators (2005-2009)

Climate Protection Performance Indicators (2005-2009)

  1. 2009 data does not include wafer manufacturing contributions from assets transferred to GLOBALFOUNDRIES in March 2009.
  2. Air emissions are no longer reported as a separate category as these emissions are minimal. Fugitive emissions (leaks) of greenhouse gases are included as part of total carbon equivalent emissions.
  3. PI - The Production Index is derived from the number of units produced and cycle time which is an indicator of processing complexity.
  4. AMD is not a significant user of water at any site, and no water sources are significantly affected by withdrawal of water. Water is supplied from public utilities. In addition, the Austin Lone Star campus uses rainwater for irrigation.
  5. This includes water use from facilities in Shanghai, China and Cyberjaya, Malaysia. AMD is working on increasing the number of sites for which water data is collected.
  6. Water data from non manufacturing sites is normalized using the number of employees at those sites.
  7. 2009 data were corrected due to an over reporting of the amount of waste recycled at our Suzhou, China facility.
  8. 2009 data were corrected due to an over reporting of the amount of waste treated off site for our Singapore facility.
  9. All wastewater from sites is discharged into municipal wastewater treatment plants and all sites were within permitted water quality limits in 2010.
